In the height of 2020, dispensaries saw some of their busiest times. Despite the struggles that the year produced, cannabis prevailed and now we’re looking at the improvements that we can make. After their success on Shark Tank, a North Las Vegas-based company is bringing you a faster, easier, and more seamless cannabis purchasing process. One of the most rewarding parts of legal cannabis is the ease of purchasing. Over the last year, however, we saw some areas we could improve in. Safe Arbor is a company specializing in secure contactless cannabis transactions and they’re coming to a shop near you!
Las Vegas dispensaries have the interior design of no other; rivaling the grinder and luxe of the casinos and clubs. One thing that can be critiqued about them is the flow of traffic and customers. Some argue good problems; but, the duo behind Safe Arbor saw the situation as an opportunity to address a growing need.
“It’s like an Amazon pick-up locker that you would see outside of a Whole Foods or a [7-Eleven],” said Lindsay Ballengee, one of the co-founders of Safe Arbor. “Customers can order from their couch on their phone and then they get an SMS text message from the machine saying your order is ready.”

CANNABIS, WITH AMAZON CONVENIENCE
Founder and best friends, Lindsay Ballengee and Marta Spegman-Lopez Venture noticed a stark issue meeting with industry workers over the years. The two moved from California, but met in New York; the cannabis brought them to Vegas, like countless others. Their business idea felt more solidified as they saw the long-lines for pre-orders last year.
“It was right after the first stimulus checks came in,” Spegman-Lopez Venture said. “There was a four-hour line of cars at an off-strip dispensary. That was eye-opening for us. That was pent-up market validation. There’s a market for people who don’t have eight hours to wait at home for a delivery and who don’t need the budtender experience.”
Although there were some pitfalls and hurdles the two pushed through and, in partnership with American Locker -another North Las Vegas-based company- Safe Arbor came to be. It will operate like an Amazon locker while still following all state laws for purchasing cannabis. You can place your order, confirm your order at the locker with an ID, receive a QR code, and you’re all good!
The lockers are set to debut in the coming months before the end of the year. The duo is also in talks with some Southern Nevada dispensaries about possible partnerships.
